Polk has more than 50 park sites and 11 mini-parks, with amenities such as athletic facilities, picnic areas, resource centers, and an ATV park. Legoland is also located here, in Winter Haven. Colleges and Universities

The Polk County Sheriff's Office's Safe Schools Division is focused on keeping the elementary, middle, and high schools in Polk County safe. There are Polk County Public Schools Guardians in every elementary school, and sworn law enforcement officers at the middle and high schools. Many private schools, daycares, and colleges also have trained Sentinels. The Guardians and Sentinels are trained by PCSO to engage and eliminate an active shooter on campus. If working for the best law enforcement agency in the nation doesn't appeal to you, Polk County is home to many other wonderful businesses and organizations, with career opportunities for the entire family. Polk County's biggest claim to fame is being the birthplace of Publix's founder George Jenkins. The Publix corporate office is located in Lakeland, with more than a dozen supermarkets spread over 2,000 miles. There are plenty of career opportunities at large organizations such as State Farm and Geico, as well as an Amazon warehouse. Mosaic Industries has a huge presence in Polk County as well.
