The Polk County Sheriff's Office's ongoing campaign against illegal alcohol sales, known as Operation Pop Top, made seven stops at Davenport area convenience stores and resulted in the arrest of one clerk.
25-year old Angelica Maria Galicia-Corchado, a clerk at the 7-Eleven store at 45119 US 27 in Davenport, was arrested after she sold an alcoholic beverage to a 15-year old. Galicia-Corchado was charged with Selling Alcohol to a Person Under 21 (a misdemeanor).
The 15-year old who made the purchase was working with deputies and is a member of the PCSO Explorers which is a program for high school students who are interested in a career in law enforcement.
"I applaud the efforts of the deputies, the Explorers who help out on these stops, and most importantly the clerks and convenience stores who check IDs and refuse to sell alcohol to anyone under 21-years of age, as state law requires." - Grady Judd, Sheriff
The other Davenport stores that where compliant with the law and refused to sell alcohol to the Explorer includes: Chevron at 44039 US 27, Sunoco at 44008 US 27, 7-Eleven 44249 US 27, Love's at 45119 US 27, Circle K at 45489 US 27, 7-Eleven at 3141 Ronald Reagan Parkway, and 7-Eleven at 5500 Champions Gate Boulevard.
